An Update on My Life

Why, hello there internet. It’s been a while since I announced my temporary hiatus from blogging as I went to work, explore, and live in China. Since I’ve been back in Australia for a couple of weeks, I guess I should update you all!

Firstly, and rather wonderfully, I absolutely loved every second of my time in Jinan. The people were so friendly and kind; I felt welcome the day I arrived. The work was fun and interesting, and I found it fascinating to see firsthand the differences between Chinese and Australian schools. The students were all adorable and enthusiastic, no matter if they were three years old, or thirteen years old. All in all, I really liked the team I was working with, I really liked the city I was living in, and I absolutely loved the work I was doing… which brings me to my next point.

Since I loved everything about the experience so much, I decided to sign onto a year’s contract! But what does that exactly mean for this blog? I know I haven’t touched it for the past five months or so, but, despite all the adventures I’ve had (and my general busy-ness!), I have missed blogging. In my first apartment, my internet was very slow, so I avoided WordPress altogether, just because I knew that between the website and my VPN, I wouldn’t get very far with blogging. However, the internet in my second apartment is a lot better. So…

This means that I will hopefully be able to do some blogging while I’m away, but it’s likely to be very sporadic. I know I will get very busy during the school term, so I can’t make any promises, but I will try to churn out some posts.

I’ll leave you all with my best well wishes, and a couple of photos I’ve taken of the beautiful city of Jinan.

A long, but temporary, hiatus

So, for those of you who didn’t see my earlier post, I am not actively blogging at the moment. Actually, I haven’t been actively blogging for the past few weeks, since I have been in Jinan, China since mid-March. The posts you’ve seen have been scheduled in advance, but don’t worry if you’ve commented on them, because I’ll get back to you eventually!

I will be away in China for anywhere between 3-6 months. During this time I will not have access to WordPress. However, I do plan to continue blogging on my return. Hopefully I’ll have some exciting stories to share with you all!

Until then, keep safe my pumpkins, and you’ll hear from me soon!

bye-bye

A Big Announcement…

So everyone, I’ve got some exciting news to share… I am going to China to teach English! It’s something I’ve always been interested in doing, and now I finally have the chance to give it a go. I will be living in Jinan for the next 3-6 months, and I am both equally terrified and excited!

However… it means that I won’t be blogging for a while. For those of you who don’t know, China blocks a lot of websites, it’s referred to as the ‘Great Firewall of China’, and these sites include Facebook, Google, YouTube, and, you guessed it, WordPress. Now, there are ways to get around this block, but I’m not entirely sure how much free time I will have for blogging anyway, so I will be temporary halting activity until I return sometime later this year.

I haven’t bought my flight to China yet, but it will be sometime in the middle of March when I will be leaving Australia. However, my leaving date doesn’t exactly line up with the end of the 30 Day Song Challenge and my Rewatching Harry Potter post series. So I will have several posts scheduled in advance, with my last post on the 27th March. I won’t be actively blogging, but I will be keeping track of any comments and followers during this time, so please continue to interact with my blog in my absence. You will get a response from me… eventually!

In the meantime, take care of yourself everyone, and hopefully you’ll soon be hearing about some of my exciting adventures in China! (Hopefully without a lost camera and a visit to the police station this time round!)

Three Year Anniversary!

Although I didn’t actually post until a few days later, I made the first step towards the creation of a blog three years ago today. Since then, this blog has undergone major changes, most recently in July when I decided to expand from the anime/manga base to cover more of my interests. Although the expansion has been slow, it’s something I’m looking forward to working on in the future!

I’ve had a bit of a spotty posting schedule these past few years, what with holidays, life events, and err… general laziness, but I’m relatively happy with my output… 157 posts in total! I’ve managed to gain 201 followers, which I think is very astounding. Thank you to everyone who reads this blog, and a big shout out to all my regular readers… I know who you are!

For my first blog anniversary, I looked at some stats, and I had been hoping to do it every anniversary since. I was in South Korea on the anniversary last year, and was having too much fun eating and relaxing to look up stats, but I’m able to do it this year!

Three most viewed posts: My reviews of Another (916), Hakuouki Hekketsuroku (166), and Hakuouki Reimeiroku (163).

Three most viewed posts (published in 2016): My reviews of Meteor Garden II (57) and Descendants of the Sun (39), and the first of my Holiday Bragging: Japan posts (31).

Most interesting search term: I got a pretty good range of search terms in the last year. Some are very, very broad such as “manga arrogant male lead” (good luck finding that manga) and “psychic girl when she touches something manga” (can’t help you there, sorry). Others are weirdly specific; “which anime movies were on tv on july 31 1999” (but why?) and “the love story of kang chi gif moving korean drama funny scenes starring iu” (there’s a lot going on in that search). Two of my favourites include “manga bitch club” (cool name for a manga review segment, anyone?) and “heavy object fanservice” (not even going to imagine that one).

Most views from this country: United States (a whopping 3034!).

Number of posts in 2016: 58

Once again, thank you everyone, and I hope I keep you entertained in 2017!

And I’m back again!

Hi all!

I am back from my UK holiday, but unfortunately, not-so-ready to blog 😦 But never fear, because I do have at least four reviews to come (once I uh… write them), and I have some (hopefully awesome) ideas swirling around in this little head of mine that are just itching to get out!

I have decided that I won’t be writing a ‘Holiday Bragging’ series for the UK (see here if you don’t know what I am talking about), but instead I’ll be writing a post series on all the castles that I visited. Because, you can’t go to England and not visit a castle… they’re everywhere! Once that post series starts up, you’ll know that I’m back to regular posting 😀 😀

I’m also planning on a couple of other posts covering various topics, including K-Pop group Bangtan Boys (BTS), Harry Potter, and Japanese voice artists. I’ve been feeling out some of the titles on my anime watch-list, so hopefully it won’t be long until I’m back into regular anime watching and churning out more reviews!

Until then, my precious bagels ❤

My lovely readers welcoming me home

Another holiday hiatus!

Hi everyone,

Exciting news… as this gets posted, I’ll be somewhere in the Lakes District of Cumbria, UK, enjoying a driving holiday with my parents! I know, I know, someone has to live this life of travel and luxury, and I guess that’s me 😛

excited

Me, anticipating my holiday!

So since I’m currently on holiday, there won’t be any activity on this blog for about a month. I get back to Australia in early September. If I were a better blogger, I would have some posts planned and ready to go, but unfortunately not. So there may be a bit of a gap in terms of reviews until I start completing some series, but I will try and keep my Thursday “other” posts going.

Speaking of which, would you be interested in a series of Holiday Bragging posts about my adventures in the UK? We’re going all over, from Manchester right up to Scotland, down through York and Nottingham, London, over to Bristol for a few days, in Cardiff for a week, and then finally back to Manchester. It’s going to be a long trip, but I’m looking forward to it! Let me know either way by voting in the poll here 🙂

See you all soon, keep safe until I return!

Three Day Quotes Challenge: Day Three

After the slightly heavier quotes that I shared on days one and two, I decided that something light and breezy was needed for day three! This quote can actually be traced back to Indian spiritual master Meher Baba (1894-1969). However, a longer version of this particular quote is often credited to him. It was until Bobby McFerrin‘s 1988 hit song that this quote really caught on. It’s got one of the catchiest melodies on the planet. You’ll know it as soon as you hear it. The reason why I like this quote so much is because I believe that in the end, happiness is what’s important in life. Whether it’s the happiness you create for yourself or the happiness you create for others is irrelevant. Remember, dear readers…

Don’t worry, be happy
